45 min Keynote Video on Business Model Innovation

Alexander Osterwalder

Below a free goody: A video of one of my latest keynote talks in the Netherlands at Media Plaza. 45 minutes on business model innovation. The audience was from the media industry, which is undergoing quite some transition.

Enjoy the video (and sorry for the sound problems…):

Very good speech. You have discussed many topics that I am studying right now for my master’s diploma in production engennering. If possible, I’d like to discuss a few things with you, like how do you think the long tail and the mass collaboration strategies communicate? Do you think the users participation in rating, taging and discussing products is vital in selling tail products? I mean, filter mechanisms on websites must be very accurate in order to offer exacly what the customer wants, dont you think? I have just subscribed to your blog and I am reading your thesis, so I think we could exchange experiences. Best regards, Pablo Campos (pablotupi@yahoo.com.br)

Hi, very interesting talk once again. Despite the poor sound quality it’s nice to see you “in action” and not just the powerpoint (even if they are quite nice).

Maybe you already did publish it but I didn’t find it :
    - what is you current Business Model?
    - do you find it innovative?
    - how did you come up with it?

Id enjoy a lot to have a little journal of your personnal progresses on your own BM. Maybe that’s will be inside your book :)

    Cheers,
    Utopiah.

Thanks for the kind words. I could indeed right more about my journey, but I am afraid I will scare away those who are purely interested in my business thinking ;-)

More about my business model, soon. It’s work in progress…

    Dear Alex,

I work for Invest NI, the economic development agency for Northern Ireland. One of our directors saw you speak at an Enterprise Ireland event recently and advised we approach you to speak as part of our Innovation master class series. We would be very interested in you discussing business model innovation to an audience of SME’s.

Is this something you would consider? We will be holding a series of these master classes over the coming months with our next event on either November 12th or 13th.

I’d appreciate it if you could come back to me on you availability for November initially.

    Regards

    Anne-Marie Murphy

    Very good presentation.

Just a question, you talked about a Design book from HBS, can you give me more details? Thank you.

  7. Alex Osterwalder says:

In the June issue of Harvard Business Review there is an article on Design. It's a nice start and an important "legitimation" for design in business…

No books from HBS on design & business, I'd guesss.
